“ A definite must try if you want some fresh and flavorful food. We went for a birthday lunch to have some drinks and tacos. At first I didn't realize Stevies Bar had this little gem inside. We started off eith the guac and the fried elote and it hit the spot! We tried of each of the tacos except the shrimp taco which we plan on trying at our next visit. The tacos we had were the carnitas, asada, pork belly and the Cali fish taco. Each taco was fantastic on its own. The asada fries were massive and the churros ended the lunch nicely. The owner took our order and was so friendly, upbeat and down to earth. The pictures don't do justice of how great everything tasted! ”

“ 8/13 Co-workers requested we come back for lunch and it did not disappoint! The tacos are so amazing. Don't she away from the veggie tacos either. They are smokey and just full of flavor. 4/10 Review - came back for more and the star review still holds. The fish taco is exactly what a fish taco should be. Fresh fish, grilled to perfection, spicy, crunchy cabbage, fresh thick corn tortillas that hold together perfectly. The surf & turf tacos were exceptional. The shrimp taco is delicious and fresh, also holding together like a champ! The veggie tacos are super flavorful with a nice smoky flavor. The taco has a kick to it and it's perfect. The smashburger was good but the Mexican food is really the star of the show. Worthy of continued visits for more! We finally tried ABVE The Basics and are so happy we did! We arrived on Saturday at noon, and luckily, the bar was basically empty. I think there were 1-2 people at the bar, and that was it. It's definitely a 'bar'. Pool tables, dart boards, tv screens, big L-shaped bar, quite spacious, actually. You walk up to the window to order your food. The menu is on the wall, and there are plenty of choices. The person at the register was very friendly and helped us with questions and accommodations. We ordered deep fried elote (DELICIOUS!). The crunch was such a fabulous change to traditional elote. It's not something we should probably eat regularly but it was very good! We had a shrimp taco, a veggie taco, and a carnitas bowl. Everything was very fresh tasting, generous in quantities, presented well, and had a ton of flavor. We were pleasantly surprised and look forward to our next visit! ”

“ Oh em gee - one of the BEST tacos I've had!! We ordered on the second floor of Rec Room, which was perfect since we were able to grab our favorite drink - Como De Flor or something like that with prickly pear - YUM! The staffs were accommodating to my taters on the side request since I wanted to reheat them when we got home. Tacos, quesadilla, and chips & salsa hit the SPOT. I loved how they only used one tortilla, not too greasy, super flavorful, and just one of the best! Can't wait to try the other goodies :D ”

“ What seems like a random taco place inside a bar serves some incredible tacos. Came here the first time by chance, second time I went out of my way. Both times the food was great. Price is reasonable and good beer on tap at the bar. ”

“ Food is always delish. The tacos are their strong point for sure! The service is never fast but it's worth the wait. Once you get the food in your mouth you don't care about the wait anymore. Today we tried the lemonade and I forgot to take a picture. We had passionfruit and raspberry. You can tell the base is real lemonade. Not too sweet which is great! It is a bar and the music is a bit loud to be able to have a conversation but it's a bar, so what do you expect? Def hit everytime! ”

“ Abve the basics is a modern mexican fusion restaurant that incorporates a lot of standard mexican dishes but with a more open taste to the American influences. They are located inside the bar and you can either order online or at the back (just beeline straight from the entrance and ur at the ordering window) Feel free to grab a beer separately while you wait as well! We got their bay area surf and turf burrito with steak, the guac and chips, and one of the bowls and the flavor was explosive. Lots to unpack and super flavorful all around. Overall would definitely recommend if you have a chance to check them out and if you check in on yelp you get a free order of churros! Parking might be hard cuz of the supermarket in the same plaza but lots if street parking! ”

“ Delicious and savory food, one item that stood out to me was their elote wich was fried, I never tried it like that before and it was so good. Kind of disappointed when I ordered the churros and at the picture they present an ice cream and it didn't come with it, when I called the server to ask for it he said they didn't even had the ice cream, and it was just for the pic, so keep that in mind Staff is okay, place is a little loud but it's understandable for a bar ”

“ I cannot stop saying good things about this business. The food is top tier. It's unique and authentic and I cannot make a trip to San Jose without stopping by and getting their food. You cannot go wrong with on that menu. The owner is kinda and friendly and you can tell he really puts a lot of thought and effort into the food he presents. ”
